Belvoir Park Forest: Our Quick Guide 🌲
Where is Belvoir Park Forest Located?
Belvoir Park is located in the Newtownbreda area of Belfast, just off Belvoir Road (across from the big Tescos!) It’s a large woodland area that has several paths & trails, some which run past the River Lagan & the towpath on the other side.
How To Get To Belvoir Park Forest
The best way to get to the park is definitely by car, unless you live closeby.
There are several ways to get to the entrance of the park, depending which direction you are coming from, but we find the easiest way is to simply turn off the Belvoir Rd (A55), into Belvoir Drive & you’ll see signs for the park to your right!
You’ll then follow that road on down to the main car park.

Is There Free Parking At Belvoir Park?
Yes, parking is free at Belvoir Park Forest & there are usually plenty of spaces when we have been!
At the weekends (especially in the summer), we do recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds & ensure you get a parking space quickly.
We went on Sunday morning very recently at about 8:45am & this was how empty the car park was!
Opening & Closing Hours At Belvoir Park
The park is opening all year-round, so you can enjoy it through every season! It’s open 24 hours a day, although I’m not sure we would recommend walking round it in the dark – we think it’d be pretty scary being in the forest in the middle of the night!😅
Forest Brew Coffee At Belvoir Park Forest
If you haven’t had your morning coffee, then head to the Forest Brew van in the car park before you set off on your walk. It’s open from 10am-4pm each day, servings up hot & cold drinks, treats & traybakes!
Is Belvoir Forest Park Dog-Friendly?
Yes, Belvoir Forest Park is a dog-friendly park! Your furry friend is welcome here & I’m sure they will absolutely love it!
Luka enjoys exploring all the forest paths & stopping at every bit of grass for a sniff 😂
We’ve noticed he’s a lot calmer around other dogs when he’s here too as he’s so distracted by all the sights, smells & sounds of the forest.
In summer when it’s hotter in the mornings it’s actually a good place to walk your dog as most of the trails are covered by trees & provide plenty of shade!
Here’s our favourite retractable leash that we use for Luka!
Walking Trails At Belvoir Forest Park
There are plenty of paths & trails to walk in the park – there’s no particular route you have to take!
We tend to stay in the main forest area – follow the trails up to the back of the golf course, down through the woods, past the River Lagan, then back up to the carpark. Almost like a circular route. However you can go in any direction you choose!
Some of the trails will link onto the towpath & the Lagan Valley Regional Park.
