If you are visiting Albufeira one place we think you cannot miss is the marina! We’ve been both times we’ve vacationed in Albufeira – mostly because we are obsessed with the brightly coloured apartments & villas that surround it! 😂 It’s a vibrant, bustling spot to spend a few hours – whether you just want to relax with a drink, grab a bite to eat or even take a fun boat trip along the Algarve coastline!
In this post we’ll share everything you need to know about getting there, where to park & what you can do there!
Where Is Albufeira Marina?
Albufeira Marina is located in (you guessed it!) – Albufeira, a popular tourist town in the Algarve region in Portugal. The marina is situated on the western side of Albufeira town, approximately a 20-30 minute walk from the historic Old Town. It’s easily accessible from the town or neighbourhoods nearby!

How To Get To Albufeira Marina
Albufeira Marina is really easy to get to no matter what form of transport you’re using!
Car Rental: Driving your own car is probably the easiest way to get to Albufeira Marina, especially if you’re staying further away. We drove from the neighbourhood of Vale de Parra, which took us around 8 minutes. We parked right at the marina here. Having a car is super convenient especially if you want to explore different places. We usually book our car before we go on Discover Cars & pick it up at the airport. We recommend doing this to ensure you get the best price & the car you want. In June we went with Rent A Star & they were really great! Always be sure to check reviews & policies etc before booking.

Walking: If you’re staying in & around the centre of Albufeira Town, you can easily walk to the marina. It’ll take about 20 mins or so from the Old Town. You can walk right along the coastal path to get there so there’s some nice views to take in along the way or through Albufeira’s streets.
Bus: Don’t fancy walking far in the heat? Don’t worry! Albufeira has a local bus service called the ‘GIRO’, which will take you to a bus stop just across from the marina. You may just have to walk a minute or so once you get off. It costs around 2 euro each way. You can check bus schedule here.
Taxi: There are over 30 taxi ranks in Albufeira, so no matter what area you are staying in, you should find one nearby. Taxis are usually a light beige colour or black with a green top. The taxi rank at the marina is here – this is where you’ll likely be dropped off & where you can wait for a taxi back! The minimum fare is 3,25€ to the marina. Where To Park At Albufeira Marina
If you’ve hired a car & want to drive to Albufeira Marina, there’s plenty of parking close by. During the summer months it might get busier round here so do bear that in mind. We went in June & got a space right away.
We normally find a spot here on Alameda da Orada which is free on-street parking. Then you can just walk across the road & down the steps to the marina.
If you go along that same road, you’ll come to the entrance of the underground parking (there’s a huge sign for it) which leads you underneath all those colourful apartments. The underground is also free of charge & handy if you want to keep your car a bit cooler!
There’s also a few parking spaces here at the back of the marina beside the bigger villas, however it might be harder to get parked there.
If all else fails, there’s even more on-street parking on R. da Emerida & R. Duarte Pacheco Pereira – both free and within walking distance of the marina.
Best Things To Do At Albufeira Marina
The first thing you’ll probably notice about the marina is the colourful apartments that surround the area – they’re such a great backdrop for your holiday photos! So definitely don’t forget to bring your camera. They are what we think make this marina really unique! There’s also some pretty cool retro villas the far end, so do make sure you walk round & check out those as well!
Once you walk down the steps to the marina, you’ll find tonnes of restaurants and bars lining the waterside where you can sit & chill-out while enjoying views of the yachts & watch the world go by. When we visited in June we grabbed a coffee at Belize Lounge which we enjoyed & the staff were nice!
If you’re a bit more adventurous, you could take a boat trip to see more of the Algarve coastline! Click here to have a look at the different boat trips & activities that start at the marina!
